Ladies Section – Captains Welcome

Welcome to the Ladies Section of the Club’s Website.

The Ladies regular roll up is on Wednesday mornings at 9.00am, and some people play regularly on Monday and Friday mornings and a few play at weekends. A number of us play in the monthly Monday TOFFS (for those over fifty fives) and the Seventy niners (for those over 70) competitions held once a month on Thursdays.

We organise a programme of competitions throughout the year. To play in a competition you do need to have a handicap. The Club have recently purchased a new laptop and the Club V1 system to hold handicap and competition information. In future members will be able to input their own scorecards – we will be practising inputting the cards at our next competition.

The fixture list includes monthly friendly matches, which are a great opportunity to play other courses. The sign up lists are posted in the Ladies Changing Rooms and given our small numbers it can sometimes be difficult to get a full complement, so we would love to enlist some new players.

We also organise social events, including the occasional lunch and theatre trips. The Club allows the Captains to nominate a charity, which we support throughout the year. In 2019 the Ladies raised over £1,000 for Against Breast Cancer – you will see the Bra bank box in the Ladies Changing Room where we continue to collect bras. The nominated charity for 2020 is the Oxford Children’s Hospital. We combine our fundraising with the men, who this year have selected the Alzheimer’s Society. We have a great Charity Day when guests can be invited to play and I hope to organise some other events to raise more funds.

The Club does have a new Facebook private group set up by the Men’s Captain, but I hope the Ladies will be able to add some information for those who like to use social media. If you would like to join the Facebook group please let me know.

Check out the Ladies News pages for the latest information of what is going on in the Ladies section,
